Differences make all the difference

Industry research consistently points to the importance of the manager within organisations. Whether it is a performance management, motivation, retention, training & development, stress, recognition and reward, it is often
the manager and their relationship with their team that is critical.

Equally, managers report that they are well aware of the business issues but often lack a sufficient understanding of the needs and behaviours of different individuals to be truly effective.

At the same time, the ability of all employees to communicate and understand each other is critical tosuccessful decision making, problem-solving and teamwork.

For many years, some of these key differences have been recognised and defined by psychological Type, a wellresearched and documented theory of human personality.

Type instruments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI®) reliably measure individuals Type and the results are widely used within MBA programmes, leadership development, team-building and executive coaching in many of the world's leading companies.

In practise it is not possible for most managers to retain sufficient knowledge of Type theory or indeed how to apply it and this is hardly surprising with the multiple demands on their time.

Professional Dynamics® has been specifically designed to put this knowledge at the fingertips of managers and indeed any employees. It
combines relevant management expertise with a sophisticated knowledge base of Type to provide a series of reports covering a range of business applications.

Uniquely, Professional Dynamics combines information about two collaborating individuals to highlight particular aspects of working together, based on their differences and similarities, to enable improved dialogue and decision making.

The Professional Dynamics system enables users to select from a full range of reports.

From their home page, they can select reports about themselves, colleagues or teams. The system is configured with the individuals and teams within the organisation and a user simply selects the colleague or
team they wish to know more about. There is no calculation or data input required.

Each user can also create their own teams using a simple point-and-click to create reports for teams that may not be configured in the system such as project teams or work groups.

Each report is concise and to-the-point giving users the core information they require. It follows a simple bulleted format and is designed to be read in those spare few moments before the next meeting.

The reports are written by experienced leaders and qualified Type practitioners - straight forward business language.

For security and control purposes there is a set of simple configuration options that enables the administrator of the system to add or delete users, configure teams and decide which users can access which reports.

Report access can be granted to users based on their status or level within the organisation, by hierarchy or by the management relationship between individuals. Alternatively, every report can be made available to every user if appropriate.
Of course, there are also the essential management tools such as resetting user passwords and configuring access profiles.

A manager wishes to meet with a direct report to give them feedback on their performance. They are a valuable team member but a few issues have arisen with their work.
How does the manager give feedback that will be effective yet not undermine them?

You have an important presentation to make to your manager s superior who you don't know very well. What will be an effective way of getting your message across and influencing effectively? What are you likely to overlook?

You need to develop a communication plan for a large team announcing an important change. How do you get the key messages to everyone and keep them all engaged?

A new manager is appointed from within an existing team. Their technical expertise is second-to-none but they have never managed people before. How do you give them the additional confidence to manage effectively within their new role?

You are struggling to understand a particular team member or colleague,
despite working with them for some time. What may be going wrong?

An established leader wishes to develop their leadership skills.
Courses just don't meet their need or asking for help may not be politic.

You are losing key staff. What may be the retention issues?

Conflict has arisen between you and a respected peer.

What may have caused it and how may it best be resolved?
